MAKEXAFRICA FOUNDATION HISTORY

MAKEXAFRICA was born out of grief, love, and determination. In 2020, after losing his only sister Flavia at the age of 18 to childbirth complications—Simon Mugudde resolved that no other girl should walk that painful path – inadequate health awareness amidst harsh climate realities. In every vulnerable girl, Simon saw Flavia, and in her memory, he established MAKEXAFRICA FOUNDATION: a Nonprofit in Jinja Uganda. We are legally registered Nonprofit in Jinja-Uganda promoting health and climate solutions through research and advocacy. Our guiding values—Equity, Accountability, and Community Service—shape every step of our work.

We do not give handouts, instead, we establish, built, and sustain knowledge, skills, information, and awareness linkages on health and climate between the every day people at the grassroots and the policy makers, technocrats, policy implementers, humanitarians and philanthropists at the top. MAKEXAFRICA’s history is not only about one founder’s promise to his late sister. It is the story of millions of people helplessly falling victim health and climate vulnerabilities. We are equipping communities and actors across sectors with evidence for action through research and advocacy on health and climate.
